Why do we do what we are doing?

The things that we value not only tell you who we are but what we believe is important. At Monte Vista we have two core values – loving God and loving people.

What are we supposed to be doing?

Our mission is to help people to become fully devoted followers of Christ

What kind of church would we like to be?

Our vision is to be a church where:

  • The gospel is shared with all people.
  • Broken hearts are healed.
  • People are set free from legalism.
  • Sight is restored to those living in darkness.
  • People are released for ministry.
  • Joy characterizes our worship.
  • Holy living is the norm instead of the exception.

How will we get to where we want to be?

In order to help us fulfill our mission, our church is structured around five biblical purposes for the church: worship, spiritual growth, community, evangelism, and missions and ministry. Each purpose area is led by a Ministry Council responsible for planning, leading, and coordinating the work within that area. Ministry Councils enlist volunteers to help them fulfill their mission.

Partnerships

Sharing the good news of God's love is a task we are not able to accomplish alone. Therefore, we join with other groups in fulfilling our responsibility. Some of our partners include:

The Cooperative Baptist Fellowship - A network of churches and individuals committed to historic Baptist principles, spiritual formations, ministry, and reaching unreached people groups around the world. Further information may be found at thefellowship.info.

The Southern Baptist Convention - Over 40,000 churches working together through missions, education, benevolent and social services to expand God's family. Further information may be found at sbc.net.

The Tennessee Cooperative Baptist Fellowship - A group of Tennessee churches focusing on creating new ministries within our state. Further information may be found at tncbf.org.

The Tennessee Baptist Convention - Baptist churches across the state that work together in evangelistic, educational and benevolent ministries. Further information may be found at tnbaptist.org.
