In order to understand this approach to discipleship, simply visualize in your mind an upward mountain journey where strategic markers along the route represent the four movements of The Servant’s Walk. The journey begins with servants connecting with unreached persons at the foot of the slope. It is through these initial intentional contacts that people become seekers on their way to becoming born again believers (Knowing Christ at marker # 1). Here, Monte Vista offers seekers and new believers spiritual growth opportunities in the form of new-Christian orientation and assimilation studies. Farther up the mountain (Growing in Christ at marker # 2), in an effort to further aid in the process of spiritual maturation, we offer additional assistance for believers through studies that teach spiritual growth habits. For disciples on the downward slope, we provide studies and apprenticeships designed to help members find places of service (Serving Christ at marker # 3). The forth phase of The Servants Walk (Sharing Christ at marker # 4) results in persons becoming reproducing servants of Christ who participate in initiating The Servants Walk by intentionally connecting to still other unreached persons - thus, The Servants Walk begins again. Training for this fourth phase is provided through witness training studies.
