New Bible Study Classes

Here and Now...There and Then by Beth Moore is an 11-session lecture series on the book of Revelation. Beth presents many points of view, allowing women to decide for themselves when the interpretation varies among scholars. She teaches that God is as specific about what He does reveal as He is about what He does not reveal.

The Listening Guide is a book for note taking during the teaching sessions. It also has only one homework assignment for each week.

Home Bible Study beginning:Tuesday, September 7, 6:30 pm meeting weekly at the Willhite home.

Anyone interested, please sign roster in the church office or call Brenda Alley, 983-9209.

Living The Baptist Faith - The topic is very relevant to most of us, as we seek to live out our faith in an ever-changing pluralistic world.

The facilitator of this 8-week study/sharing group is Howard Olive, a man widely known and loved for his many years of service at Monte Vista. Also, Brother Olive is greatly respected and appreciated for both his Biblical scholarship and his wealth of experience as an active Baptist leader throughout the past several years.

As in the past with Howard-led studies, you will be taking a look at real people and real church life – warts and all.

Wednesdays, September 8, 6 -7 pm in room 352

Foundations for God Talk - Loretta Denson and Steve Rutherford will facilitate this group with non-traditional approaches that will lead you into meaningful discussions to expand your understanding of Who God is.

Sundays, beginning September 12, 2010 – 4:30 pm

Beth Moore Study - Do you take God at His Word, believing what He has told us, or do you just believe in His existence and the salvation that He offers?  Beth Moore came face to face with this question.  Over time, the Holy Spirit led her to understand He was saying, “I didn’t ask you to believe in me; I asked you to believe me.”  Based on Isaiah 43:10, “Believing God:  Experiencing a Fresh Explosion of Faith” explores what it means to believe God through studying the lives of Abraham, Moses and others from Hebrews 11 as examples of people who believed God.  The format will be a combination of video presentations and class discussion based on weekly homework. For questions, contact Kim Mantooth at 983-8214.

Sundays, September 19, 2010 – February 13, 2011

9:00 am, Room 207

Moore Sunday School Class - Monte Vista is pleased to announce a new Sunday school class that will begin on Sunday, September 19th.  This class focuses on scripture’s archeological, geological, and historical aspects.  Each lesson incorporates a brief video presentation and scripture reading, followed by a discussion of the class members’ perspective of the lesson.

Merrill Moore will teach the class; he provides an exceptionally unique viewpoint of the Holy Land and its surrounding countries from the time when he was a missionary in this region of the world.  We welcome everyone to join with us in studying God’s Word by utilizing practical methodologies and historical references.

There is a place for everyone in our 9:15 – 10:15 AM weekly Sunday Morning Bible Study hour. The primary purposes of this ongoing organization are Bible study, outreach, fellowship, and mutual support. Although the Bible is the textbook for our Sunday Morning Bible Study hour, supplementary curriculum materials, activities, and technological tools are used at all age levels to provide guides for study and to serve as effective resources for helping in the application of the teachings of the scriptures to real life.

The Divisions of our Sunday Morning Bible Study hour are Preschoolers (Birth to 5), Children (Grades 1-4), Preteens (Grades 5-6), Youth (Grades 7-12), and Adults (Young, Middle, and Older). Adults may choose men’s, women’s, or coed classes.

In order to assist each guest in finding the appropriate class, a Welcome Center is located on the first floor at the entrance to the educational building.
