Worship according to Webster's Dictionary is to honor, to adore, the performance of devotional acts in honor of a deity. To adore is my favorite definition. I can identify with that. While falling in love with my wife I began to adore her. I still do. As I look at my daughter while rocking her to sleep, I adore her. When you adore people, you don't just think fondly of them, you want to be in their presence. You want to speak in love to them and speak well of - brag about - them to others. Isn't that how it is with God?
God is worthy of our respect and fearful reverence. He wants us to know and tell of his power and might. He also wants us to be with Him, speak lovingly to Him and brag on Him to all we meet.
Another part of the definition of worship is the performance of devotional acts, what we seek to achieve in our worship. The performance isn't for worshippers. The worshippers (leaders and participants in the pews) are the performers and God is the audience.
At Monte Vista, we strive to be intergenerational in our worship, freely using traditional and contemporary elements, such as music style, instruments and religious backgrounds. We believe that in blending our worship elements, every age group and background will find something that speaks their musical language and allows them to lift their praise to God.
Our music and worship ministries provide worship leadership and music instruction for all ages. Instrumental groups, choral groups and children's choirs are all led with the purpose of raising up a generation of worshippers. Adoration, our dance team, artistically heightens our visual worship propelling us closer to the throne of God. God is moving in this place.
May Jesus Christ be praised!!!

Musicals/Drama
Seasonal musicals including dramas will involve additional personnel to do acting. Dramatic sketches and scenes will be used in worship periodically to enhance the worship experience and strengthen points to be made during the pastor's sermon.
It is our desire to form a drama team of 10 actors that will be ready to receive scripts and rehearse on a consistent basis. Please contact Tim Purvis if you are interested.
